Free Cooking Sessions: Easy-Peasy Cooking Time

The lovely HUBBUB have funded a new casual cooking workshop opportunity, which is run by the brilliant Sally Vaughan. The next session is on the 3rd of July. 10am-1pm. Salway Ash Village Hall. The first round is full, but join the waiting list for the next!

Read about Sally and how the project is going below:

When Sally first walked through the doors at BFM, she came simply to help — chopping vegetables, serving meals, and getting to know the people behind the organisation at the Nosh and Natter events.

But it didn't take long for something to click.

"I realised their vision aligned very much with my own beliefs," Sally reflects. With a background spanning teaching, healthcare, and community project management, she had spent her career at the intersection of the very things BFM holds dear — health, education, and the power of community. Food, she had always known, sits right at the heart of all three.

So when the opportunity arose to lead something new, Sally didn't hesitate. Easy-Peasy Cooking Time was born.

Now, a few months in, the sessions are in full swing — and the buzz in the kitchen is palpable. "I'm loving that everyone feels they are learning something new each time," says Sally, "and building on their cooking skills." This week's highlight? Soufflé omelettes — light, fluffy, and by all accounts delicious — alongside a spread of creative salads and homemade dressings.

What started as a volunteer chopping carrots has grown into something that nourishes far more than just appetite. Week by week, Sally is helping people discover that good food really can be easy — and that cooking together is one of the best ways to build community.
