Edible Bridport: Growing Strong

Next Volunteer Session - Seed packaging

It has been a busy and fruitful time for Edible Bridport, full of exciting new projects, generous community support, and big plans ahead.

Thanks to an NGS grant, we've created a wonderful new growing space opposite St Cecilia's allotments. This long verge features planters of annual vegetables, a foragers' garden of fruit and nut trees, and a no-dig growing area, with a wild pond, bench area and storage shed still to come. Our lovely volunteers have worked so hard to bring it all to life.

We've also been overwhelmed by community generosity. A £1,000 donation from the Bridport Vintage Market traders at St Michael's Trading Estate will extend our free herbs and vegetables across the estate. Wessex Water has awarded us £1,991 towards rainwater catchment, a celebration event, and a composting workshop. And most recently, Edible Bridport and BFM received £1,000 from the Waitrose Community Matters scheme — a big thank you to Waitrose, and to everyone who popped their tokens in the box!

Our drop-in volunteer sessions run on the third Saturday of every month at BYCC, 11am–12 noon. The next is on Saturday 17 October, when we'll be holding a seed-packaging workshop in collaboration with the Bridport Seed Library. Find out more at Edible Bridport, or email ediblebridport@gmail.com.
