Community Benefit Society

Bridport Food Matters is pleased to announce it is now registered as a Charitable Community Benefit Society.

About Our Charitable Community Benefit Society
A Charitable Community Benefit Society (CCBS) is a cooperative legal structure that puts community benefit above financial gain. Unlike traditional business models, any surplus we generate will be reinvested directly into our work for the community. This ensures that local people retain ownership and control over important community assets and resources. Read our charitable Objectives and Benefits, and our FCA Registration details including our Rules here.

Membership: Coming Soon
We’ll soon be launching our membership scheme, which will give individuals the opportunity to shape the future of the Society. As a member, you’ll have an equal say in key decisions, following the democratic principle of one member, one vote.
Becoming a CCBS also enables us to raise funds through grants, donations, and community shares. This model allows public investment while preserving democratic ownership and accountability. Details about our upcoming Community Share Offer will be shared with members and stakeholders shortly.

We are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and operate under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. Bridport Food Matters Charity reference is ZD36736.
